Don’t become another statistic! especialy in PATTAYA

If you drive in Thailand, try to bear in mind that it is one of the most dangerous countries in the world to be on the road or the sidewalk. Things are improving, but slowly. It takes time to change to driving habits of the entire population of the country.
  • Drive Slowly; At low speeds, a driver can cope with the constant sudden changes in traffic situations. Most insurance policies do not cover injuries sustained in motorcycle accidents.
  • Assume that the other vehicle that you encounter has the right-of-way.
  • Use your rear-view and side mirrors frequently. Monitor the situation behind, and both sides of you. Move slowly to the left to get out of the way of faster vehicles trying to overtake you. Vehicles will pass you from both sides.
  • Use your turn signals. Any move out of your on going direction, you should signal your move. Use your electric turn signals or use your hand signals. Some way you need to let the person behind you know that you are slowly moving to the side of the lane or are intending to turn the corner or are intending to stop. If you intend to stop in traffic, do it slowly and make sure the vehicle behind you knows that you intending to stop and give them plenty of room to go around you. Move out of the way of on coming traffic and give them a place to pass you. Vehicles will pass you from both sides.
  • Use you rear-view mirrors frequently. It is very important to know what vehicle is coming up behind you or intending to pass you and from which side. Vehicles will pass you from both sides.
  • Motorcyclists should use the left-shoulder motorcycle lane where available by law, even if you have a big bike. Always wear a good quality helmet. Use other safety equipment. Get prepared to crash you motorbike. Watch out for dogs running onto the road. Vehicles will pass you from both sides.
  • When it rains the roads become extra slippery. The oil that has dripped from under the vehicles has sunk into the road and when it rains it floats to the surface of the road. This is especially dangerous for motorcyclists when they are trying to slow down at intersections. Any sudden attempts to put on the brakes of any vehicle will cause the vehicle to skid on the oil slick wet road. Beware of potholes hiding beneath puddles of water after heavy rains. Some potholes will be very deep.
  • Drive defensively. Put no faith in stop signs, traffic lights or rules of the road but honor them yourself. Vehicles will pass you from both sides.
  • Don’t allow yourself to become angry by rude drivers. It’s pointless and it only aggravates an already chaotic situation on the roads. Be calm, courteous and respectful.
  • Have a plan when you are involved in accident.

Happy Holiday !! Have Fun !!
