Everyday in the market of ereader or ebook reader will coming of new product which will be a Kindle Killer . Yes, right now one of kindle competitors as Irex who announce bankruptcy ;IREX, the Dutch firm set to release the DR800SG, a $399 3G wireless stylus-touch screen e-book reader, has filed for bankruptcy due to lackluster sales. Despite a high profile launch in the U.S. and agreements with retailers Barnes & Noble and Best Buy, the device faced several delays in reaching the market and missed the 2009 Christmas shopping season. The Dutch company had been producing readers aimed at European business users before entering the US market this spring via distribution deals at Barnes & Noble (BKS) and Best Buy (BBY) . But you’d be very hard-pressed to find anyone who bought the $400 DR800SG. It isn't throwing in the towel just yet, but things don't seem to be looking good for Netherlands-based iRex Technologies -- CEO Hans Brons has just announced that the company has been forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection amid a string of problems that's led to "financial difficulties." While details are otherwise still pretty light, at least some of those problems seem to be related to the company's operations in the United States and, in particular, a delay in its DR 800 e-reader receiving FCC approval that caused iRex to miss out the holiday shopping season and fully take advantage of its deal with Best Buy. As bleak as things might be, however, Brons still seems to be keeping his chin up, saying that the "expectations are still positive. There are still a flood of e-readers on the way, though: Borders, for instance, promises to sell at least 10 different brands by the end of the year. But none of them will be produced by Amazon (AMZN) or Apple (AAPL), and it’s going to be hard to convince customers to buy anything that doesn’t come from one of those two companies. |
